Tongue twisters (May 2018)
Justification
As I was watching The King's speech it occurred to me that tongue twisters are a great thing to practice ones speaking skills and pronunciation in particular. Therefore, I instantly went online and searched for English tongue twisters. I particularly like the ones which had some meaning and I decided to copy here my favourite ones.
There was a fisherman named Fisher
who fished for some fish in a fissure.
Till a fish with a grin,
pulled the fisherman in.
Now they're fishing the fissure for Fisher.
Big black bugs bleed blue black blood but baby black bugs bleed blue blood.
If practice makes perfect and perfect needs practice, I’m perfectly practiced and practically perfect.
No need to light a night-light on a light night like tonight.
Rhys watched Ross switch his Irish wristwatch for a Swiss wristwatch.
A pessemistic pest exists amidst us.
Through three cheese trees three free fleas flew.
While these fleas flew, freezy breeze blew.
Freezy breeze made these three trees freeze.
Freezy trees made these trees' cheese freeze.
That's what made these three free fleas sneeze.
I saw Susie sitting in a shoe shine shop.
Where she sits she shines, and where she shines she sits.
Reflection
I had great fun reading them and saying them later too. I found especially the last one extremely challenging to pronounce correctly when speaking fast and I decided to learn it by heard and say it before every speaking exam to relax my jaw and become less stressed by occupying my mind elsewhere. And I also learned a new word - a fissure :)
