Economics (6 May 2017)
Justification
In pursuit of my goals for this semester, I am reading articles at http://www.economist.com as often as I can. For this artefact, I chose this special article http://www.economist.com/news/special-report/21721503-though-effects-financial-crisis-2007-08-are-still-reverberating-banks-are about the world economics. I am sure it will be a very challenging since I don’t know much about this topic and this newspaper always uses highly specific and sometimes quite unusual vocabulary.
Reflection
I was quite surprised and very pleased because I managed to understand the text much more than I thought. Reading this article was definitely a good idea. Not only I learned some new useful vocabulary and phrases but I also learned about the economic situation and its links to world politics.
I know how to use the following from now on:
Cut taxes on
To pledge
Overhauled
Patchy
Equity
Tangible
Precipitous
Surfeit
Brunt
Meagre
Incumbent
